Our shot types and
angles enforce genre conventions, in a rock music video it is convention to
have side angles ect, we used this in our video to create an edge look within
the story. We broke typical convention when we used a arch shot of our
character to represent her going from one life to the next, this is because we
wanted to emphasis the t.v drama style of our music video.
We enforced genre
conventions by using narrative and a performance bed in our music video, we
used performance to sell our band and make them identifiable but we used
narrative to present a story line which many people within our target market of
13-20 year old females will be able to relate to in that point in their life,
selling our band as deep and understanding.
We enforce convention
by placing our band in one location as they’re performing. Many rock music
video’s have a narrative with numerous locations and a performance bed with
just one, we chose to stick to this because we feel that a girl will be able to
read into this that no matter where she goes, the band will always be in the
same place for her.
We use our artists as
performers and this enforces conventions yet we also use the ghost character as
a performer, this is to add mystery to the band, so that the audience don’t
quite know whats happening with them all of the time, this will entice them to
find out more buy gig tickets.
